Agsu, 13 August (AzerTag). Next treasure, i.e. 24 units of silver coins are found by Agsu Archaeological Expedition of NASA Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography during excavations in medieval Agsu town called “Kharaba sheher” by settler in Agsu’s south. Silver coins are displayed at 7th site, where 37 golden Holland trade ducats were unearthed a while ago. Silver coins of 17-18th century belonged to Shirvnshahs. Accurate research work of the coins is currently being conducted.
Chief of Expedition, Doctor of Historical Sciences Gafar Jabiyev says that 7th excavation site is the part richest with artifacts. The walls of the building found from 10-meter depth and with 30-meter length, width 8 meter and 19-footstep stairs in the north are remained safe. According to primary opinions, the building considered a storehouse was destroyed as a result of attack. Remnants of cannon-balls, as well as breech-block bullets are revealed under the knelt down roof.
Other places are definitely are rich with artifacts as well. Thus, even golden decor item was also found in 2nd excavation site.
The excavations are currently ongoing in the 7th site.
