On 17 August, 2012 an event on 62nd year anniversary of Professor, Doctor of historical sciences and chief of Agsu Archaeological Expedition, Gafar Jabiyev was held at archaeological tourism complex of medieval Agsu town. During the event chairman of MIRAS Social Organization, Fariz Khalilli said Gafar Jabiyev is a scientist known in the field of research and propagation of our cultural heritage with his pen and picker and gave information on the work done by him in Agsu together with MIRAS.
In the final speech Fariz Khalilli said that MIRAS Social Organization in Support of Studying of Cultural Heritage awarded diploma on Professor Gafar Jabiyev for activity in study, protection and propagation of cultural heritage in Azerbaijan.
Let’s recall that, Jabiyev Gafar Jafar oglu was born in Talistan village of Ismayilli region in 1950. He graduated from history faculty of Ganga Pedagogical University in 1973 with Honours diploma in 1973. He worked as head laboratory assistant, junior scientific worker, scientific worker, and head scientific worker in Archaeology and Ethnography Department of NASA Institute of History in 1981-1990. He maintained candidacy dissertation in 1985, whereas he maintained Doctor Degree thesis in 2008. He was appointed a member of National Television and Radio Council due to the decree of President of the Azerbaijan Republic. He is an author of 5 monographers, over 100 scientific and 300 scientific and publicist articles. He is prize-winner of “Golden Pen” and “Humay” awards.
Prof. Gafar Jabiyev stating scale of archaeological explorations are enlarged last years in Azerbaijan due to Mr. President Ilham Aliyev’s care and attention; state care towards study, protection and propagation of cultural heritage; archaeological tourism complex of medieval Agsu town changes day by day, urgent views for tourism are conserved along with archaeological excavations; urgency of visiting the covered sites in each season, expressed gratitude for the diploma.
The event became consequently a part of archaeological explorations and went on with Iftar (during the fast of Ramazan) in a frank environment together with workers worked at the excavations, a kind of vivid heritage paradigm.
